HOUSE ATHLETICS CARNIVAL: Well done to all our amazing students in Years 3 to 6 for making the 2025 House Athletics Carnival such a memorable event! Held at Tom Kelly Athletics Track in Doncaster East on Thursday 31st July, the Carnival was a true celebration of athleticism, effort, and house pride.
We were blessed with a perfect winter’s day, no rain, a little chilly at times but just blue skies and excited smiles. It was heart-warming to see so many students giving their best, encouraging their peers, and proudly representing their houses. It was wonderful to have our visiting Jinling students from China join in the fun and experience a true Aussie Athletics carnival.
The morning kicked off with our Tabloid Program, where students rotated through a variety of events including; 800m & 200m races, Shot Put & Discus, Triple Jump, Long Jump & High Jump and Hurdles.
In the afternoon, we kept the momentum going with the 100m sprint and the always thrilling Circular (4x100m) relays. Although we ran out of time for the Shuttle Relay, the energy and enthusiasm never dropped.
Our students should be proud of their sportspersonship, effort, and the way they demonstrated our school values. It was wonderful to witness the cheering, teamwork, and celebration across all houses.
A big thank you to the POPS staff and our wonderful parent volunteers for helping the carnival run smoothly. There are too many parent volunteers to name, but we truly appreciate all your help and support; we simply couldn’t run these days without you. Thanks also to the parents, grandparents, and siblings who cheered enthusiastically from the sidelines. Special thanks to our Community House Captains for their leadership in setup and coordination throughout the day.
After a big day of competition, the final points were:
1st – GRANT | 2nd - PETTY | 3rd - GIBB | 4th - SHARP |
272 | 230 | 196 | 150 |
Congratulations to GRANT House – our 2025 Athletics Champions!
In the coming weeks, I’ll be reviewing the results to select a team for the upcoming District Athletics, scheduled for Monday, 1st September at Bill Sewart Athletics Track, Burwood. Stay tuned for more details!
Thank you once again to everyone who helped make the day such a success.
