Fathers Day Evening - Confirmed

Upcoming Sean Choolburra visit - please be at school on time

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day Walk

Father's Day Evening

Our Fathers Day evening will be different this year!

The special men in our students lives are invited to enjoy time at school from 5-7pm on Thursday 4th September. There will be some structured and unstructured activities from 5-5:30 and then we will gather in the hall for a presentation (approximately 5:30 -6:15pm) by former Australian Soccer/Football Player Michael Matricciani.  Michael works as the Melbourne City FC Women's Head Coach. Michael is an excellent speaker and a father too! He will be joined by Jamal Elsheikh as they explore the role of sport in addressing racism and building kindness.

After the presentation please enjoy a sausage in bread and continue to enjoy the activities.

The cost will be $5.00 per family.  Please book through TRYbooking (operoo email)

Sean Choolburra visit

On the morning of Monday 8th September all students need to arrive at school on time (8:40am) as we welcome performer Sean Choolburra to our school for an 8:50am start.  Sean is vibrant and charismatic, engaging energy and humour with historical facts, spiritual wisdom, depth of ancestral understanding and knowledge; he is one very exciting and talented cultural ambassador.  He is also the voice of Maynard from Bluey!

Photography Competition

Thank you to all of the students who entered the St John's photography competition.  The images were creative and varied.  When the judging panel read the blurbs of the images the true depth of connection was realised. The reflections of the students brought the images to life.  We have many talented and thoughtful students within our school; on this occasion we would like to congratulate the following students:

FIRST PLACE: Lucy Hillas

My photo is of the Frankston beach at sunset. I took it on my ipad. I chose to photograph this because sunsets to me mean love and on the St. John’s school logo, it says ‘Love is Life’.

The people in this picture are looking like they are having fun just like the students at our school.

I think the beach is calm and safe and our school is definitely calm and safe too.🙂

SECOND PLACE: Adeline Carrigy

I imagined what would make anyone feel welcome and included. I painted the picture myself, using colours that are used in the schools logo. I took a photo in the morning sun with a phone.

THIRD PLACE: Imogen Lamb

This photo is with my hands over our school logo in the shape of a heart.  The shadow is over the logo displaying how love can be shown and felt by even the people who live in shadows of others.  It represents our school because it is a representation of how everyone shows their love and dedication differently.

We encourage you to pop in to see the artwork displayed in our school foyer soon!

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day walk.

On a chilly Monday morning a small community of people gathered to participate in our annual walk to raise funds for the Opening the Doors Foundation.  The morning began with a prayer and the St John's FIRE carrier Acknowledgement to Country.  We thank those who walked and raised awareness of this important day and for those who donated; the donations will help provide Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children access to equitable education, books, uniforms and to participate in camp programs.  This year we raised $96.10.
