Term 2 College Update – A Fresh Start and New Opportunities
Welcome back to Term 2! We hope that the recent school holidays offered our families a valuable chance to rest, recharge, and enjoy the beautiful weather we were fortunate to experience. As we return to our daily routines, we also take this opportunity to wish everyone a blessed Easter. May this season of renewal continue to inspire hope, compassion, and reflection in our school community.
Term 2 offers a fresh chance for students to recommit to their learning goals, build effective study habits, and fully engage in school life. Regardless of year level, each student can learn, grow and thrive by embracing the mindset that “every day counts.”
Recent research continues to highlight the importance of regular school attendance:
Missing just one day of school every fortnight equates to four full weeks of lost learning per year.
Students with consistent attendance are more likely to complete Year 12 and pursue post-school education or employment.
Regular attendance supports academic achievement, positive peer relationships, and strong wellbeing.
We ask all families to support this by ensuring students attend school every day and arrive on time. Punctuality sets the tone for the day and maximises learning opportunities from the very start.
In addition, maintaining home study routines is crucial. Studies show that students who revise consistently at home:
Achieve higher academic results
Improve memory and critical thinking
Develop life-long learning skills
Now is the perfect time for students to build or refine a structured and balanced approach to study at home.
Remembering Pope Francis
On Wednesday 30th April each House held a special liturgy in memory of Pope Francis, recognising his profound global influence and deep commitment to peace, justice, and humility. His life and leadership offered a powerful message of unity, compassion and faith—values that remain central to our community.
ANZAC Service
On Monday 28th April, our college gathered to honour the sacrifices of those who have served Australia in war, in peacekeeping, and in disaster relief. The ANZAC Day service was deeply moving, marked by student reflections, readings, and respectful silence. It was a meaningful opportunity for our community to reflect on the values of courage, resilience, and service. My sincere thanks to Mr Paul Woodbridge and his team of teachers and students for this most reverend and beautiful service.
Student Learning Conferences
This week, we held our Student Learning Conferences, giving students, families, and teachers the chance to reflect on progress, set learning goals, and build strong partnerships for success. These conversations are a vital part of our learning culture, promoting student agency and empowering learners to take responsibility for their academic growth.
Outdoor Table Tennis Tables – A Hit with Students!
We’re excited to announce the installation of new permanent outdoor table tennis tables for the enjoyment of all students. Already popular during break times, these additions have added energy and engagement to our outdoor spaces. We’re thrilled to see students across all year levels enjoying friendly games, building new connections, and staying active.
Year 10 Reflection Day
The upcoming Year 10 Reflection Day will provide students with an invaluable opportunity to pause, reflect, and engage in a series of activities focused on personal development and resilience. These reflection days are a core part of our pastoral program and are designed to support students in navigating the challenges and opportunities of adolescence with confidence and purpose.
Mother's Day Breakfast – You’re Invited!
We are delighted to invite our school community to the Mother’s Day Breakfast on Friday 12th May. This special event is a celebration of the important women in our students’ lives —mothers, grandmothers, and carers. Join us for a delicious breakfast and a chance to share this meaningful occasion with your children and fellow families. All are welcome!
Winter Uniform Reminder
With cooler weather upon us, a reminder that full winter uniform is now required. Wearing our uniform with pride reflects our shared values of respect and unity. Please ensure students are correctly attired and present themselves to school each day with care and responsibility.
As Term 2 progresses, we encourage all students to learn with purpose, act with kindness, and commit to building strong learning habits. These aspirations are reflected in our whole-school expectations:
ROCKS – Respect, Organisation, Collaboration, Kindness, and Safety.
When students uphold these values in their learning, relationships, and choices, they not only succeed individually but contribute to a stronger, more connected school community.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
I wish you all a safe and productive week.
