Whats happening at MRC

EARLY YEARS
This year, MRC has introduced the ‘Assistant Principals Reading Award’. This award is to celebrate significant milestones of reading. We have our first group of students from 3A who are proud recipients of their award for achieving 50 nights of reading presented by Mr. Naselli.
GRADE : 3's
Over the past few weeks, 3A & 3D have been exploring the concept of capacity through a range of engaging, hands-on activities. Taking full advantage of the splendid autumn weather, students have stepped outside the classroom to explore and experiment with different containers, using sand and water to investigate how much each could hold.
These practical experiences not only deepened students’ understanding of volume and measurement, but also encouraged collaboration, critical thinking, and a lot of fun! From estimating and comparing capacities to testing their predictions,
3A demonstrated curiosity and enthusiasm as they applied their learning in real-world contexts.
Year 3 MCG excursion (3D)
Grade 3's had the amazing opportunity to visit the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) This excursion helped students learn more about one of Australia's most significant sporting and cultural landmarks.
Students explored the MCG's impressive facilities, including the players' changing rooms, the media centre, and the famous stands where thousands of fans cheer on their teams.
The visit brought classroom learning to life and helped students understand how places like the MCG play an important role in shaping identity and community. The students were enthusiastic, respectful, and curious, asking thoughtful questions and making great connections to their learning.
Year 5 and 6 Incursion
Over two days, the Year 5 and 6 students participated in an engaging incursion run by Supreme Incursions. Through a series of rotating challenges — including obstacle courses, team-based problem-solving tasks, and collaborative physical activities — students strengthened their communication, problem-solving, resilience, and leadership skills. The focus was on building trust, developing leadership, and enhancing teamwork through active, hands-on learning. Students had a fantastic time working together, showing great enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the experience.
YEAR 7 2026 INFORMATION EVENING
Our College hosted the Year 7 2026 Parent information evening to inform our prospective students and their families about the exciting year ahead. During the session, school leaders covered important topics such as curriculum, school policies, extra-curricular opportunities and communication practices.
Our dedicated staff were on hand to answer parent questions, and our College Captains and members of the student leadership group provided insights on how we work together to ensure prospective students experience success at Mount Ridley College.
Finally, families were provided with a tour where KLA leaders unpacked the subject specific curriculum and encouraged students to participate in engaging activities. Thank you to Peter Mitsis and the various staff members who assisted in showcasing MRC.
ACED CAMP
Our ACED Year 10–12 students recently took part in an exciting camp packed with engaging and enriching experiences. Over several days, students explored Melbourne’s vibrant city. Despite some scheduling conflicts that occurred with the University of Melbourne the camp was an overall success. Students showed exemplary behaviour in public and worked well together during the two days. They overcame challenges with dedication, and worked hard to complete an Art and Culture themed scavenger hunt that sent them around federation square to appreciate all the different types of art that Melbourne has to offer. The information/careers talk at Fortress also proved valuable as they learned about all the different types of jobs that come with working in the gaming industry, from engineers to laser experts and general carpenters.
