From the Principal

A very warm welcome to Term 2. I hope everyone has enjoyed some well-deserved rest and relaxation, returning to the College feeling refreshed and looking forward to what will no doubt be a very exciting Term ahead.
As we commence Term 2, I extend my thanks and congratulations to all students, staff and families involved in this week’s celebration of the performing arts during our College Musical, High School Musical. As many are aware, preparations for the College musical commenced many months ago and involve a broad section of our community, some of whom have volunteered their time and expertise for many years. The Primary School was privileged to be in the audience for a preview at the end of last term.
A particular thank you is extended to our Director, George Tsakisiris, who so expertly led our talented student Cast; all superbly supported by the Production Crew, Musical Band, Backstage Crew, Technical Crew, and others assisting with Makeup, Costumes, Hair and Front of House. Of course, at the time of writing, preparations are well underway for tonight’s show and tomorrow’s finale, so we wish our cast and crew the best of luck for both. Congratulations to everyone involved!
During the week, the College also recognised the importance of Anzac Day at our Years 3 to 12 Anzac Day Service. As we know, Anzac Day is a significant day that marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces. It is also a day to reflect on the many different meanings of war.
I extend my thanks to St Louis House Coordinator and Secondary School HASS teacher, Joe Shaw, for his thoughtful reflection and to College Liturgist, Mary-Anne Lumley, for her expert organisation of our special Service during which the students demonstrated their deep respect and solemnity.
Finally, as a community, we also acknowledged the sad passing of Pope Francis during the week. In the words of Pope Francis during World Youth Day in 2023,
'I leave you with these thoughts. Carry on; if you fall, get back up; walk with a goal in mind, and train each day of your lives. Nothing is free in life, everything has to be paid for. Only one thing is free: the love of Jesus! So, with this free gift that we have, the love of Jesus, and with the desire to carry on the journey, let us walk in hope, let us be mindful of our roots, and move forwards without fear. Do not be afraid.'
May he rest in peace.
