Encouraging Expected Behaviour

Encouraging expected behaviours in our school through School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) involves creating a consistent, proactive, and positive environment where students clearly understand behavioural expectations. By teaching, modelling, and reinforcing our values—respect, responsibility, and resilience —students are assisted to display appropriate behaviours across all settings. Through the use of praise, visual cues and reward systems, SWPBS promotes a culture of recognition and accountability. You will see posters around each classroom and areas of the school which display the expected behaviours. An example is shown below. In the playground, staff members carry a token stamp to reward students who are modelling the expected behaviours. Students can then add a token to their house when they return to their classroom as well as be individually rewarded on Class Dojo. Recently, our wellbeing captains spent recess walking around the school grounds identifying students who were following our school values and rewarded them with a token stamp and positive feedback. A wonderful way for peer-to-peer feedback to occur. Great work, Millie, Nate and Scarlett!
