Senior Art Exhibition Opening

The school improvisation group, comprising Aleka, Cody, Patrick, Henry and James added a special musical addition to the opening of the senior art exhibition. The students performed two brackets of jazz numbers complete with wonderful improvisations to entertain the visitors as they viewed the exhibition. Thank you to those students for giving up their time to attend and to the art department for inviting them to play.

Intermediate Band Tour

Last Thursday saw the Intermediate Band tour three of our local primary schools. They started at Lucknow PS, then to Bairnsdale PS and finished at Nicholson PS. The band performed a number of works including’ Theme from Jurassic Park’, the Chicago classic, ‘25 or 6 to 4’, ‘Rock around the Clock’ and ‘Fatso Matso’, written for the band by our own James Newman. As well each section gave an instrument demonstration. The band was very well received and provided a highly entertaining program for the primary schools. A huge congratulations goes to the students who performed magnificently and broke the record for fastest pack up. 

Year 12 Graduation

Last week was the year 12 graduation. This year the graduation band comprised four wonderful year 12 students, Aleka, Georgia, Phoebe and Honey. They performed a selection of pieces chosen and rehearsed by themselves. As well, the swing band performed backing for Aleka to sing ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’, which was very well delivered and received.

2024 Re-enrolment/Enrolment

Please return re-enrolment forms as soon as possible. This will ensure a smooth start to 2024 and will enable the music staff to plan for their classes next year. If students are unsure about whether to go on or not, come over to the music centre and discuss options with the music staff.
