CURRICULUM FOCUS

This week in Writing we are continuing to learn how to write a persuasive text that considers the audience and purpose.


VOCABULARY

Persuade - to make someone do or believe something by giving them a good reason to do it or by talking to that person and making them believe it.

Purpose: the reason for which something exists or is done, made, used, etc. an intended or desired result; end; aim; goal.

 

Audience: who the author writes their text for.

 

Advertising: is the process of promoting a person, product or cause.


ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

 

Ask your child to create an advertisement for the robot dog above. When planning the advertisement ask your child to consider the below questions:

 

  • Who is your audience?
  • Why are you creating the advertisement?
  • How are you going to catch your audience's attention?
  • What will make your audience want the product? What makes this robot dog better than other robots?
