Magnificent Mentor Breakfast

On Thursday, 23 November at our Magnificent Mentors Breakfast the Class of 2028 had the opportunity to thank and appreciate the wonderful Year 11 Mentors for putting in a truly enormous effort to make their first year of high school a memorable one.

Nothing was ever too much for these young men. On Becoming Brothers Camp, they took on the role of Big Brothers, providing emotional support and genuine care whilst the Class of 2028 navigated their way through the start of their high school experience. At school on a day-to-day basis, the Senior Mentors were the ones that were there to help them with a broken lock, a misplaced SmartRider, when they got lost between classes or even consoling the boys after a devastating handball defeat.

The Senior Mentors always found ways to go outside of their job description to support the Year 7’s. They regularly attended PCG periods in the morning to check in with the boys and continue to be a part of their lives. Led by Declan Collins, the boys organised the Inaugural SMT Dodgeball Championship which was an obvious hit amongst the boys, but more importantly built teamwork, friendships, and the TC spirit. What was most impressive from our Senior Mentor Team is whilst they were given 4 or 5 students whom they were responsible for providing support for, many used this as a reference point before expanding out and supporting as many other Year 7 students who wanted to take up the opportunity.

The Class of 2028 don’t know any better being their first year in high school at TC, but they should feel so privileged for the amazing Senior Mentors they have had supporting them this year. Each mentor has positively influenced the lives of the Class of 2028 and TC is grateful for their sacrifice.

Entrepreneurs in the Making

The year 7 cohort have been presenting on an entrepreneur that they have interviewed as part of their studies in Economics and Business as part of the Humanities course. This assessment saw each pair of students speak with an entrepreneur about why they became an entrepreneur, the skills that have led to success as well as some of the challenges that they have faced over their journeys.

The calibre of presentations has been very impressive across all classes. Year seven students, Matteo Redolatti (7.3) and Oliver Beale (7.6), interviewed legendary car dealer John Hughes for their assessment. They are to be congratulated on the outstanding presentation that they put together.

Trinity and Mercedes Leadership Day Conference: Reflection

On Wednesday, 22 November the Trinity College and Mercedes College Prefects had the opportunity to take part in a Grip-Leadership Training Day. Throughout the day Ronan, a member of the Grip Leadership team, expertly guided us through a series of engaging activities and discussions that not only honed our leadership skills but also fostered a sense of unity among the prefects.

Ronan emphasized the importance of collaborative leadership. We delved into the significance of teamwork and leveraging the strengths of each team member to contribute to overall success. This collaborative approach resonated deeply with our role as Prefects, as we recognized the power of unity in achieving common goals.

This shared experience created strong bonds among us Prefects. Perhaps one of the most valuable aspects of the day were the connections we made within our Prefect group and also with the Mercedes Prefect group.

This conference was an exciting opportunity to think about what actions we can take as a Prefect body for the upcoming year. At the end of the training day, we were inspired and motivated about the contributions we can make to Trinity College in 2024.
