Congratulations to all our students who have received an award in the last fortnight.

Students have been working hard to achieve these acknowledgements.

BLITZ AND MATRIX FOCUS

Children will be introduced to a new Blitz this coming week.  It will be worked into routines and monitored in the yard and classroom.

This Blitz is both inside and outside the classroom.

Positive, respectful daily interactions with each other can support them to learn about interdependence and to become considerate citizens.

During week 9 and 10 our focus will move to using the TOILETS  in a SAFE, RESPECTFUL and RESPONSIBLE manner.

Unfortunately there have been multiple disrespectful and irresponsible incidences when children have been accessing the toilet space.

This space is used by all students of our school.  Our aim is to provide students with clean and safe facilities.

Over the next fortnight, staff will monitor the use and cleanliness of both male and female students.

END OF THE YEAR

For many students and families, the end of the school year can be a time of mixed feelings, sometimes including fear and anxiety.  This is typical for many children, being afraid of the unknown, change and conversations turning to preparation for next year all of which can contribute to increasing anxiety or worries.

What can you do for your child(ren) to ease the worry?

  • Sleep- are they still getting enough sleep each night? Government recommendations are for 10-13 hours for 3-5 year olds, 9-11 hours for 6- to 12-year-olds and 8-10 hours for 13- to 18-year-olds
  • Food and Nutrition– has there been any changes to their usual diet?
  • Stability- Stick to schedule. End of year may mean that some schedules fade away or some get extra busy. Sticking to routine may help create a sense of calm and familiarity and may help your child to relax and feel more confident about the end of the year.

If you would like more specific ways to assist your child in this space please take the time to head to the website below.

ATTENDANCE

You may have received a text message from school asking to clarify if your child is absent. This is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of your child(ren).

If you are travelling for an extended period we ask that you visit Maria in the office or send an email to mariaw@sjrochester.catholic.edu.au with absence dates.

Whilst we understand there will be unavoidable absences, we ask that you make the school aware of these by calling the office on 54841797 or logging the absence on PAM.

** Children who arrive after 9am are to enter via the office and sign in via PassTab to record the time of arrival.

** Parents of children who are being picked up during the school day are asked to enter the office to sign their child out. While children can use the PassTab iPad, we must see and speak to the parent/carer picking the child/children up.
