From the Principal

Oh What FUN!!

Last Friday evening was the BEST way to get 2026 off and flying at SFS!!

It was a perfect evening with a warm 25C and a gentle breeze.  Before too long our grounds were covered with picnic blankets and tables covered with scrumptious picnic food. It was great to see the many families who joined the staff to celebrate St Francis de Sales Feast Day and the start of 2026 school year.

We had so much FUN with Christine, who led us all in some Bollywood dancing. She had the moves and before long we got over our shyness and just had a great time dancing. It was so good to see parents join with our staff and eager children. There was a splash of colour with bright saris, sashes with tinkling bells and adornments that caught the sun and sparkled.

Christine also did some demonstrations of dancing that we all enjoyed. However our vibrant community were quick to catch on and showcase there own great moves.

It was so much FUN that no one wanted to leave. We finally locked up after sunset and were overjoyed and so proud of our great community. Five STARS to all who made it a memorable evening of FUN.

Beginning School Mass

Father Xavier celebrated our first Mass for 2026 on Friday afternoon. Our school choir with barely a week to prepare were sensational. Despite a warm afternoon and a BIG first week at school our children participated with reverence as we gathered together to pray for a wonderful year of learning and growing together. Each learning Space had a candled blessed to take back to the space. We all embrace the theme for 2026. Christ beside Me: Walking in the Footsteps of St Patrick.

School Advisory Council (SAC)

Advisory in nature School Advisory Councils are advisory bodies which form an important expression of the educational partnership that exists between parents, schools, parishes and the wider community to support all students. This partnership is reflected in the exofficio membership the principal, deputy principal and the parish priest on the council. What the council does is directed by the MACS board through the Terms of Reference for School Advisory Councils. The School Advisory Council provides a forum for discussion and discernment, where parent voice and community perspective are available to influence and support the decisions made by the principal and parish priest for the good of school and parish where students’ wellbeing and outcomes are paramount.

Are you interested in supporting the school through this key role?

We are looking for parents with a child in Prep, Year 1 or Year 2 to join us.

We meet after school from 6:30-7:30 just 6-7 times each year.

You can learn more about SAC through our policies on the website. If you are interested to know more please contact me by Monday 16 February. email principal@sfslynbrook.catholic.edu.au

A reminder to parents that the car park in the school grounds is ONLY for staff use. We just have enough parking places for our staff.

The Drop off Zone is just a Kiss and Go Zone. Parents are asked NOT to get out of the car so that the traffic can move and children can be safely dropped or picked up without unnecessary delay.

Parent parking is only available in the Drop Off Zone before 8am,

between 9:30 am - 2:30 pm  and after 4pm.

Eligibility for 2026 Concessional Fees

Parents with Health Care Cards that are eligible for the The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) are eligible for the School Fees Concession Program. The card must be issued in the name of the fee payer and list the students for whom the concession is to be applied.

The expiry date of the card must be after 1 January of the year for which the concession is to be applied. If an eligible concession card expires after the start of the year, the concessional fee rate will still be applied for the entire year. If a family becomes eligible during the course of the school year, then a pro‐rata concession will be granted.

Important notes

  • The concession is automatic for a parent/guardian/carer responsible for the school fees who holds the eligible card.
  • A CSEF application must be submitted for a concession to be granted.
  • Where the fee account is split, the concession applies to only that portion payable by the eligible card holder.
  • All families receiving or requesting a fee concession must notify the school should their financial circumstances change sufficiently to affect the level of concession offered.
  • Any offer of a concession is subject to the applicant entering into a Direct Debit Request (DDR) service agreement or Centrepay deduction arrangement. Any default in payment may result in the concession being withdrawn.
  • Should an application be considered ineligible, the applicant will be notified that the application has been declined.
  •

A Nforma Notice will be sent to all parents. Please indicate if you have or do not have an eligible health Care Card. If you qualify as you posses a valid Health Care Card, you need to complete the attached forms and email or bring them to the office by 1st March so that your application can be processed.

All parents are required to complete the fee agreement. Parents who are paying fees by installments are encouraged to set up a direct debit payment for 2026.

Payment for fees is essential and a matter of justice.

If you are experiencing genuine financial hardship, you are encouraged to arrange to meet with the Principal.
