Principal's Report

Voluntary Financial Contributions
In 2025, we received voluntary contributions from approximately 55% of families. While we are always grateful for every contribution, this did have a significant impact on the types of programs and experiences we were able to provide for students.
At Macedon Primary School, Curriculum Contributions go directly to classrooms and specialist programs. These contributions help us resource teaching and learning, support engaging classroom experiences, and provide high-quality opportunities for students across the school. We are committed to offering the best possible program for our students, and your contributions play an important role in making that possible.
We have also seen the direct impact of families’ generosity through targeted contributions. In 2025, parents generously contributed to our Library Fund, which enabled us to purchase new furniture and books for the library, improving both the resources available to students and the learning environment. Contributions to our Technology Fund allowed us to purchase podcasting equipment, giving students access to new and exciting ways to create, communicate and learn.
Your generous support makes a real difference. It helps us provide richer, more memorable educational experiences for our students, and we sincerely thank families for contributing in any way they can.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Parent/Teacher Interviews will be held in Week 9, providing families with an opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher and talk through their learning so far this year. These conversations are a valuable chance to discuss your child’s progress, celebrate what they have achieved, and identify their next area of growth.
Interviews will run on Wednesday 25 March for our 1/2, 2/3 and 3/4 classes, and Thursday 26 March for Foundation/1 and 5/6. Bookings can be made via Compass by selecting “Book Parent Student Teacher Conference”. If you need support with the booking process, you can find a step-by-step guide on the Compass website: https://www.compass.education/guide/#Parent-Teacher-Conferences
Adopt a Garden Bed
We’re inviting families to help us keep Macedon Primary School looking its best by adopting a garden bed.
Families who adopt a garden bed will take responsibility for basic maintenance, including weeding and topping up mulch. You’ll also have the freedom to decide what your garden bed looks like and how it’s presented, making it a great way to add a personal touch to our beautiful school grounds. The work can be done at any time that suits your family.
If you’re interested in adopting a garden bed, please contact Salina at the office.
Thank you for helping keep our school looking amazing!
Caring Koalas
We’re excited to launch Caring Koalas, our new positive reinforcement system linked to our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) approach.
Caring Koalas is all about noticing and celebrating the everyday behaviours that help make Macedon Primary School a positive, safe and respectful place to learn. Students will receive Caring Koala tickets when they demonstrate behaviours from our School Behaviour Matrix. Whether that’s showing respect, kindness, resilience, or following our shared expectations in classrooms and across the school.
Here’s how it works:
- When a student receives 20 tickets, they will receive an acknowledgement certificate that will be presented at assembly, an individual class reward, and they will be able to add a gum leaf to our Caring Koala Tree outside the library.
- When a class achieves 25 gum leaves, they will earn a whole-class reward, negotiated with their teacher.
- When we reach 500 gum leaves as a school, we will celebrate with a whole-school reward.
A big thank you to our SWPBS Captains, Lydia, Ruby, Asher and Isla, who have been busy organising gum leaves and tallying raffle tickets to help get Caring Koalas ready to go. We can’t wait to see our Caring Koala Tree grow as we celebrate students making great choices every day.
New and Returning Staff
We’re pleased to welcome both new and returning staff to Macedon Primary School.
Marlee Woodcock will be working in 3/4MS on Thursdays and Fridays. Marlee has worked across a number of schools in the Macedon Ranges and is returning to the workforce after maternity leave. With a background in Special Education, she brings valuable expertise to our team, and we’re excited to have her joining us.
We are also pleased to welcome back Martin Smith, who will be returning on a part-time basis. Martin will be working in 5/6VW on Fridays, and we look forward to having him back at school and supporting students in the senior grades.
Warm regards,
Andrew Bloomfield
Principal
