Family Fun Afternoon

Thursday the 5th of March 4:00pm – 6:00pm.

We are looking forward to bringing our community together for our annual Family Fun Afternoon.

For the students

Students will have the opportunity to take part in a range of fun, age-appropriate games and activities. It’s a chance for them to enjoy time with their friends in a relaxed and energetic end-of-day setting.

For families

This afternoon is about connection. Whether you are new to Marlborough Primary School or have been part of our community for many years, this is a wonderful opportunity to meet other families, strengthen existing connections and enjoy some time together. It’s a great excuse to pause, chat and be part of our vibrant school community.

Food available

We will be running a sausage sizzle, with sausages in bread and soft drinks available for purchase. Ice creams will also be available from the school canteen.

We hope to see many of you there.

Grandparent’s Day

Monday the 23rd of March 10:00am – 11:30am

We are delighted to invite our students’ grandparents to join us for Grandparents’ Day at Marlborough Primary School.

Grandparents will be welcomed into classrooms from 10:00am to 11:00am, providing a wonderful opportunity to see learning in action and spend time with their grandchildren in their school environment.

Following the classroom visits, we will host a morning tea in the library from 11:00am to 11:30am, giving grandparents the chance to connect with one another and enjoy some time together as part of our school community.

We look forward to welcoming many grandparents to our school for this special morning.

Classroom Observations

It has been fantastic visiting classrooms over the first four weeks of term. I have been so pleased to see our students striving to demonstrate our positive behaviours each day. Across the school, classrooms have been explicitly focusing on the behaviours that help students be ready to learn. Our students are embracing these expectations and, in doing so, are setting themselves up for a successful year ahead.

Curriculum Day

A reminder that Friday 6 March is a Curriculum Day and therefore a student-free day.

If you require care for your child on this day, I encourage you to contact TheirCare to check availability. On this day, our teachers will be engaging in professional learning focused on strengthening our assessment and teaching practices in Mathematics.

NAPLAN

NAPLAN is a nationwide assessment that provides information about students’ skills in Reading, Writing, Language Conventions (Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation) and Numeracy. It offers a snapshot of how students are progressing against national benchmarks and helps schools reflect on teaching and learning programs.

This year, NAPLAN begins on the 11th of March and will run for approximately two weeks. We encourage all students who are able to participate to do so.

To support your child during this period, we ask families to:

  • Ensure students arrive at school on time, as a calm and settled start supports wellbeing.
  • Maintain regular routines at home, including consistent sleep and morning habits.
  • Encourage students to simply try their best. NAPLAN is ONLY one measure of learning and not something to be anxious about.

If you are onsite during the testing window, we kindly ask that you respect the middle and senior building areas where assessments will be taking place, as quiet conditions are important for students.

As always, if you have any questions about NAPLAN or your child’s participation, please contact the school.

Warmly,

Tim
