Dear BMGS Community,
As we move into Week 4B, I would like to acknowledge the positive tone across the Senior School. Classrooms have been purposeful, students have settled into routines, and there is a strong sense of focus as academic expectations continue to lift across the term. Thank you to families for the support you provide at home - it is evident in the way students are approaching their learning.
Last week, our Year 8 students attended camp, and it was a highly successful experience. Students embraced the challenges presented to them, demonstrated resilience, and supported one another exceptionally well. Camps play an important role in building independence, confidence, and peer relationships, and it was wonderful to see so many students step outside their comfort zones and grow as individuals. My thanks to the staff who gave their time and energy to make the camp such a positive experience.

Rehearsals are now well underway for the Senior School Production, with students showing impressive commitment, creativity, and collaboration. Productions provide a valuable opportunity for students to develop confidence, teamwork, and self-expression beyond the classroom.
In addition, Winter Ball rehearsals have officially commenced. These rehearsals are always a highlight of the Senior School calendar, fostering connection, discipline, and school spirit. I encourage students involved to continue approaching rehearsals with focus and a willingness to support one another as the event draws closer.
We are also coming to the end of the Summer ISA sport season, with semi-finals taking place this weekend. I commend all students who have represented the school throughout the season for their commitment, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Participation in ISA sport requires dedication and balance, and we are proud of the way our students have represented the school both on and off the field. I wish all teams competing in the semi-finals the very best of luck.
Service remains a vital part of Senior School life, and it has been encouraging to see students actively engaging in service opportunities both within and beyond the school community. Many students have already made strong progress toward their required service hours through volunteering, community events, and co-curricular service initiatives. I encourage families to continue supporting students to log their hours regularly and to seek out meaningful opportunities that align with their interests and values. Service learning not only fulfils requirements but helps shape empathetic, socially responsible young adults.
As a Christian learning community, we are guided not only by academic goals but by values of perseverance, kindness, and purpose. One verse that feels particularly relevant at this stage of the term is:
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”— Bible, Colossians 3:23
This verse reminds us that effort matters—especially when motivation dips. Doing our best, even in small or unseen tasks, builds character as much as it builds capability.
Another verse that resonates strongly for our senior students is:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”— Jeremiah 29:11
Senior School can feel intense at times, particularly for students in Years 11 and 12 who are thinking about life beyond school. This verse reminds us that growth is a process, and that challenges are often part of preparation rather than obstacles.
Over the coming weeks, students will continue to balance academic commitments with co-curricular involvement, leadership responsibilities, and service opportunities. I encourage students to:
We are proud of the way our Senior School students are conducting themselves and the maturity they continue to show. I look forward to seeing this positive momentum continue as the term progresses.
Warm regards,
