Dear Families,
NAPLAN 2026
We would like to inform you that our Year 3 and Year 5 students will be participating in the upcoming NAPLAN assessments. NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy) is conducted annually and assesses students’ skills in essential areas such as reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar, and punctuation), and numeracy.
The NAPLAN tests provide valuable information about your child's progress and help us to support their learning needs effectively. Scheduled dates for NAPLAN will be from Wednesday 11 March (Week 7) to Monday 23 March (Week 9).
Please encourage your child to approach these assessments with confidence and remind them that the tests are just one way to understand their learning progress. It is important they have a good night’s sleep and a nutritious breakfast on test days.
If you have any questions or concerns about NAPLAN, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Teacher Professional Learning
At St Johns Park PS, we are committed to providing the highest quality education for your children. A key part of this commitment is ensuring our teachers engage in ongoing professional learning.
Professional learning enables our teachers to stay current with the latest educational research, teaching strategies, and technologies. It helps them refine their skills, collaborate with colleagues, and tailor instruction to meet the diverse needs of every student.
By investing in continuous learning, our teachers are better equipped to inspire and support your child's academic growth and wellbeing. This ongoing development ultimately enhances student outcomes and fosters a positive, engaging learning environment.
Thank you for your support as we continue to grow and improve together.
Three-way Learning Goal setting - Student, parent/carer and teacher evening
Setting learning goals is an important part of your child’s educational journey. At our school, we encourage students to set clear, achievable goals to help focus their efforts and celebrate their progress.
Learning goals provide direction and motivation, helping students take ownership of their learning. Together with teachers, students identify areas they want to improve and set targets that are specific, measurable, and meaningful.
This year we would like families to be involved in this process by discussing your child’s goals at meetings to be held on Tuesday 10 March from 3.30 - 7.30pm. If you are unable to attend this evening, contact your child's teacher to make an alternate time. Specific information for booking a time with the teacher will be sent out tomorrow.
Celebrating successes, no matter how small, can boost confidence and encourage a love of learning.
Thank you for being part of your child’s learning journey.
