Tomorrow we look forward to celebrating Chinese New Year at our Whole School Assembly - 9.10am on Friday.
This is always a vibrant and joyful occasion, and this year we are especially excited to welcome a dragon performance as part of the celebration!
Chinese New Year is an important cultural celebration for many of our families and community members, and it provides a wonderful opportunity for all students to learn about and appreciate the richness of traditions within our diverse community.
We look forward to sharing this special moment together.

Please join us tomorrow morning for our first Parent & Event Committee meeting for 2026. Come along, mingle and meet with other parents, and get involved with the events being planned this year. Our meeting will be held straight after assembly in the staffroom. Tea and coffee available! All welcome!

Thursday 26th February 4pm-6pm
Our Welcome Picnic will be held next Thursday, and I warmly encourage all families to come along and enjoy the wonderful sense of community that makes Box Hill North Primary School so special.
There will be:
Staff cooking and selling sausages for those who don’t have time to prepare a picnic dinner
It promises to be a relaxed and friendly afternoon, filled with connection, conversation and laughter. Whether you’re new to our school or have been part of our community for years, this is a lovely opportunity to gather together.

Our Prep students were recently very important interviewees for the Herald Sun, sharing their thoughts on what they would like to be when they grow up!
Their responses are ambitious, creative, and sure to bring a smile to your face.

We are so proud of our youngest learners and the confidence they showed in representing our school community so beautifully.

Our Year 2 students have been diving into the fascinating world of suffixes and discovering how these small word endings can make a big difference!
Students have been learning that adding a suffix can change not just the meaning of a word, but also its word class. For example:
Through word investigations, games and writing activities, students are building their vocabulary and developing a deeper understanding of how language works. This knowledge supports both their reading comprehension and their writing, as they learn to choose precise and powerful words.
It has been wonderful to see students confidently experimenting with new word forms and proudly spotting suffixes in their everyday reading!

I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to TheirCare for the outstanding work they do in delivering Outside School Hours Care at Box Hill North Primary School and Kindergarten.
Salima and her team are incredibly welcoming and caring, and they have become an important part of our school community. Their commitment to creating a safe, engaging and nurturing environment for our students is deeply appreciated.
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the TheirCare Breakfast earlier this week, and thank you to TheirCare for generously providing breakfast for our community on Wednesday.
