Year 1

We’ve made a wonderful start to Term 3 in 1A! Last week, we started our new Phonics program, UFLI. We are really enjoying the program so far; our favourite activities including making word chains (changing one letter in a word to make others, like ‘catch’ into ‘batch’) and learning about Heart Words. 

In maths, we have started learning about patterns. We have quickly moved from making simple colour patterns with counters, to making more detailed designs with chalk, LEGO, and beads. 

Last week, we also started our new topic, Minibeasts!  It has been very exciting and fascinating learning about some of the characteristics and adaptations of insects and we look forward to exploring this topic in-depth this term.
