Principal's Report

Welcome back to another term!  I trust everyone had some restful family time and are ready for a busy Term 3.  The Paris Olympic Games are upon us, year levels and specialist teachers have been busy planning some important activities to engage students and link learning back to the Victorian Curriculum.  In addition to this, Book Week is not that far off either!

School Sport Victoria Cross Country Championships

Sienna Fleisner and Delilah Dartnell participated in the School Sport Victorian Cross Country Championships last week. This is an incredible effort and shows both girls’ dedication to their sport.  The track was incredibly muddy in spots, making it a tricky event for all.  Sienna coming 41st and Delilah 27th are fantastic results and something both girls should be very proud of.

Parent/Teacher Interviews

Thank you to all staff and parents for their participation in the Term 3 parent/teacher interviews. These are incredibly important to discuss the Semester 1 report and future learning for the remainder of 2024.

Parking

Langwarrin Family Chiropractic (next door to the school) is not parent parking.  Please be respectful and keep this space available for clients attending the clinic for their appointments.

Classroom Doors Open at 8:50am, School Starts at 9am

Each day our classroom doors open at 8:50am so students can settle themselves and get organised for the start of the school day. Please plan to arrive at school on time for a 9am start. Our teachers have developed strong, positive routines at the beginning of the school day to support our students to settle in and engage in learning as soon as the bell rings. This includes marking the roll at 9am and beginning our teaching and learning activities straight away. When students arrive to school late, they take longer to settle into learning, and this can be unsettling for both them and their peers. Please support your child to enjoy a positive start to the school day and their learning by planning to arrive on time.

Final Pupil Free days for 2024

Please take note of our final pupil free days that have been agreed to by School Council.

  • Monday 4th November (Cup Eve), Structured Literacy Professional Learning.
  • Friday 29th November (2025 Planning)

Staffing

Al has informed me that he will be resigning from his position at Langwarrin PS.  This brings about mixed emotions for many as we know Al will be sorely missed in our school, the crossing and food science. We thank Al for the work he has done here at LPS and the positivity he has brought into children’s lives – We wish Al all the best in his future endeavours.

Have a great fortnight,

Mark Moorhouse
