Newsletter - Term 3 - week 4 PE/Sport
It’s really starting to get cold in the mornings especially for our early morning FITClub kids. But we are also having really lovely sunny afternoons which makes it difficult to wear the right clothes. Layers work well, and can be easily removed when students get hot.
The Olympics are in full swing and we will be using this as a focus for all our lessons this term. It was great to see all the kids and staff getting involved with the Green and Gold Day last week and help support our Australian Olympic team.
Term 3 PE Lessons
Our lessons this term will have strong connections to the Olympics, making links and using examples from Paris in our lessons.
Prep-2 students will be exploring a Gymnastics unit where they will learn the key components of gymnastics. Learning to balance, roll, turn and jump using mats and some basic equipment.
The Yr 3-6 students will take part in an Athletics unit by learning to throw, jump and run in all the events just like at the Olympics!
The Yr 5/6 students will then use these skills in the District Athletics competition later in the term when we all go to Collingwood Aths track to compete against the other local schools.
District Athletics
All Yr 5/6 students will be competing in the District Athletics at Collingwood Athletics Track on Friday 30th Aug. Please make sure you complete the online permission form or ask for a paper copy.
If there are any parents who can come along and help at the event please email me; rmcleary@tcs.catholic.edu.au
FIT Club
Thursdays 7.40am
FIT Club is back this term. Trinity Fit Club is a Free Before School activity open to all Trinity students every Thursday at 7.40am on the Oval or in the MPR if the weather is bad. The children will take part in a range of fun activities to get them moving. Senior students from St Kevin's College will join us most weeks to run some sport or exercises to help get the students ready for learning. Please come along and join us!
Richmond Skippers Netball Club
You have probably noticed a keen group of Netballers practising before school on a Friday morning. This is a local netball team run by local parents Cecelia and Kate. The teams are always looking for new players in Yrs 3-6, so if your daughter is interested please come and get more information from me or email the team; richmondskippers@gmail.com
