Dear Lysterfield Families and Friends.
Our students continue to learn and practise the skills and language of the Friendology Program through our classroom program.
It has been pleasing to hear students talking to teachers in the yard and using the words “Friendship Fires" when there are disagreements. As per Friendship Fact #1 – No friendship is Perfect – we know it is normal to encounter conflict with our friends. The Friend-o-cycle helps everyone see that Friendships Fires are a part of friendships and when we respectfully talk through things, it can repair friendships and even make them closer and stronger.
At LPS, we regularly review the impact of our programs by talking to students. Recently, we asked a selection of students some key questions about the implementation of the Friendology program and their usage of key language from the program. Below is a summary of those results.
We are still in the early stages of implementing this program and obviously there is still work to do to ensure students use the skills consistently. Moving forward, we will continue to work with students to help them better understand and use the Friend-O-Cycle when talking through friendship situations.
