Wellbeing at Moriac
At Moriac Primary School, we prioritise the social and emotional wellbeing of our students. To support this important aspect of their development and , we have implemented a number of wellbeing initiatives designed to foster a positive and inclusive school environment. These initiatives include the explicit teaching of the Respectful Relationships program, Social Groups, Wellbeing Hub and Engaged Play programs.
Social Groups
Our Social Groups are designed to foster the development of social and emotional competencies in our students through small structured group activities, discussions, and skill-building exercises. The program is implemented using "Everyday Speech," a comprehensive SEL curriculum designed by professionals and aligned with our school's curriculum objectives. These groups are delivered by either the teacher, education support staff or wellbeing leader. These groups are designed to be accessed by a range of students across all year levels.
Engaged Play
Engaging in purposeful play at student break times, fosters active participation and meaningful learning experiences, benefiting all students and providing valuable support for those who may require additional assistance. Play serves as a dynamic tool for exploration, social development, and skill acquisition, contributing to an enjoyable educational environment.
These sessions will be fully supported and resourced by educational support staff, alongside the wellbeing leader. This collaborative effort ensures a comprehensive and well-rounded approach to facilitating engaging and purposeful play, catering to the diverse needs of all students.
Wellbeing Hub
The Wellbeing Hub is a dedicated lunchtime space that serves as an alternative to outdoor play. It offers a range of quieter, more passive activities, providing students with a calm and relaxing environment. This initiative is designed to meet the diverse needs of our students, ensuring they have a comfortable, safe and supportive option at breaktimes.
