Year 3 News

Our Grade Threes have had a busy and exciting start to Term 3, diving into our Unit of Inquiry, "Through the Arts, People Use Different Forms of Expression to Convey Their Uniqueness." In Week 1, with the grade 4s, we embarked on an inspiring journey to the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) and ACMI, where we explored various art forms, including the vibrant graffiti art of Hosier Lane. This experience sparked our curiosity about artists like Banksy, and the students eagerly created their own graffiti art. We also delved into the connection between art and religion, studying the intricate designs of stained-glass windows and artists such as Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo. A visit to St Columba's Church provided further inspiration, and the students enjoyed crafting their own stained glass window artworks.

For home learning, our Grade Threes embarked on curiosity projects centred around the Olympics. The students formulated questions that sparked their interest and inspired them to seek out answers. We were fortunate to welcome a very special visitor, Paralympian Brydee Moore, who shared her incredible journey and answered some of the students' burning questions. The excitement continued as the students had the unique opportunity to try on Australian supporters' clothes and even see and hold some of the many medals Brydee has won in shot put.
