Mandarin 

This term, we welcome international students from China to join our learning journey at St Columba’s. These students brought authentic Chinese cultures, customs, and traditions to our school community, which helped our students develop cultural awareness and gain different perspectives. 

As our students learn Mandarin progressively from prep to Year 6, they are all very keen and proud to apply their language skills to communicate with these native speakers.

Our Mandarin program at St Columba’s aims to teach students how to read, write, and communicate in Mandarin and improve their cultural understanding. It also focuses on more enjoyable ways of learning, such as incorporating ICT and engaging students in a wide range of learning activities. Besides, topics studied in Mandarin lessons are usually linked to units of inquiry in their homeroom wherever appropriate so our students can comprehend and enhance their communication and problem-solving skills.
