Principal's Report

Dear Skye Families,

Welcome to Term 3! I trust that you had a lovely school holiday break and are feeling refreshed and ready for another exciting term ahead.

Farewell Rachel Clarke 

It is with mixed emotions that we say goodbye to our wonderful Librarian, Rachel Clarke, who is sadly departing Skye Primary School after 11 years. Rachel has been instrumental in fostering a love of literature and reading among our students and her commitment, professionalism and enthusiasm has transformed our library into the incredible space it is today. Rachel is moving to a school in regional Victoria, and while we will miss her, we wish her all the very best for her future endeavours. We are well advanced in the recruitment of a new Library Technician and look forward to announcing the successful candidate shortly.

Air Conditioning Project 

I'm excited to announce that all Year 1, Year 2, and Year 5 classrooms will be fully air-conditioned before summer hits this year. While our building currently has evaporative cooling, extreme temperatures and consecutive days of warm weather can create challenging conditions for teaching and learning. O'Brien Real Estate Carrum Downs recently donated $5000 to contribute to this project, and with additional funding coming from the PTF and Building Fund, we look forward to creating comfortable learning spaces for students moving forward.

Curriculum Day 

A reminder that Friday, 2nd August, is a Pupil Free Day. Our entire staff will be participating in the second full day of the Berry St Education Model training as we continue to embed trauma-informed positive education practices across the school. This session will focus on 'Relationships' and the importance of maintaining unconditional positive regard for students while harnessing positive micro-moments throughout the day.
