Grade 1/2
We can’t believe there are only a few weeks left of the 2025 school year! The children have been working incredibly hard, and it has certainly been a busy and exciting time in our classroom.
Literacy
We have now completed our first year of the InitiaLit program, and the students are revising some of the wonderful spelling and reading strategies they have learned throughout the year. It has been a fantastic journey, and we have thoroughly enjoyed learning and growing together. The progress the children have made is something to be very proud of!
Religion
We have begun our new unit on Advent – Waiting for Jesus. Students have been discussing times in their own lives when they have had to wait for something special, just as we are waiting for the birth of Jesus at Christmas. As part of our learning, we have explored the meaning of the Advent Wreath and its symbols. Our class wreath is now on display, and we will begin lighting the candles each week as we prepare our hearts for this joyful season.
Last week, we welcomed a visit from Fire Ed, where students learned important safety skills such as how to stay safe in a fire, choosing a safe meeting place at home, and how to call 000 in an emergency. The children were highly engaged and took away valuable knowledge.
This Friday, we will be celebrating with a Christmas Craft and Activity Day. A delicious lunch will be provided, and we are looking forward to a fun and festive day together.
In Week 9, our swimming program will run each day. Please ensure your child brings their swimming gear to school daily during this week. As children will be getting changed at school, including a pair of thongs or slip-on shoes and a T-shirt to wear to and from the facility would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your continued support as we finish off the year with these exciting activities!
