Important Term 4 Events:

December 15th: Swimming Carnival and Christmas Carols

December 19th: Last Day of school, 2.30pm finish

Swimming Carnival

On Monday 15 December, all Level 4–6 students will be taking part in our annual House Swimming Carnival. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to show their house spirit, support their peers, and enjoy a fun and active day together. We are hopeful for kind weather and a smooth, enjoyable event for everyone. Further details regarding timings, what to bring, and any specific arrangements will be shared shortly.

Please keep an eye out for updates, and thank you for your support in helping make this a positive experience for all students.

Christmas Carols

On Monday, December 15th we will be celebrating the end of term and the festive season with a joyful Christmas Carols session. Students are welcome to come dressed in their favourite Christmas gear to help add to the fun and colour of the day. We look forward to seeing you all and sharing this lovely end-of-year celebration together

Literacy:

Students have continued to work on their morphology books and are putting thoughtful effort into writing letters to their buddies as we begin to wind down towards the end of the year. It’s been lovely to see the care, reflection, and pride they bring to these final projects as we wrap up our learning together.

Numeracy:

This week we finalised our measurement unit with a focus on calculating perimeter and area. The level 4 students practised how we calculate perimeter and area by exploring items in our classroom, as well as using square centimetres to find the area of something. We pulled our knowledge together and showcased our understanding by designing a floor plan for our dream homes! Across the holidays we encourage students to keep practising their multiplication and division knowledge, and play any fluency games they may of learnt this year!

Inquiry:

Level 4 students have been working on a mini inquiry project where they choose an area of interest that has been covered this term (Civics and Citizenship), research it and then present it in their chosen format.

All Level 4 students had the pleasure of having a guest speaker Brad Rowswell at our school yesterday to wrap up this term of learning. There were a number of questions that students had drafted last week to ask him. They learnt so much about him, his role and how he has helped (and continues to help) the community of Sandringham / Bayside.

We thank him for taking the time to come and see us at Sandy East, and learn a little more about Civics and Citizenship

Well-being:

For the upcoming fortnight, the Level 4 students will continue their social and emotional learning through The Resilience Project Curriculum. Our social and emotional literacy remains a priority during this busy period of the year. As students anticipate changes and upcoming events we are reminded to draw on our Zones of Regulation Toolkit and our GEM practises - Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness. We are looking forward to maintaining our school values of Respect, Resilience and Relationships as we share and celebrate our upcoming end of term events.
