Leader of Year 7 Wellbeing

Mrs Rachel OÇonnor

Congratulations Year 7 on the completion of your first Year 7 Assessment block. I was extremely impressed during the times I was in the hall starting assessments or supervising tasks. Year 7 students were calm, mature, and responded well to the structure of high school assessments. Allowing students to experience assessments in this format helps build resilience and reduces the fear of assessments in the later years of high school.

Senior Constable Adam Taylor Year 7 Talk

In Week 4, Senior Constable Adam Taylor talked to our Year 7 students about a variety of topics that are extremely relevant to our students, and about choices and experiences that they may encounter in the future.

Some of these topics, unfortunately, have been issues that some students in the year group have encountered this year.Assault and harassment, bullying, and cyberbullying were all covered in detail, and Senior Constable Taylor delivered a very clear and concise explanation of how the law views these situations. The College has a strict hands-off policy, which it takes very seriously.

It was important for students to understand that any physical contact or bullying is regarded as a serious matter, as schools are considered safe environments with a duty of care to all students.

Please take the time to discuss this talk with your son or daughter if you have not already done so. It was highly informative and conveyed crucial information about the consequences of making poor choices.

Topics covered:

  • Assault and Harassment
  • Bullying, including verbal abuse and racism
  • Sexting
  • Cyberbullying
  • Tagging / etching
  • Train surfing
  • Vaping
  • Shoplifting and stealing
  • E-bike safety: E-Bike use to and from the College

It has come to light that some Year 7 and Year 8 students are choosing not to ride safely to our College. This is a timely reminder for all students to follow the road rules, to ride safely and to respect members of the public.

E-Bike Safety: Ride Smart, Ride Safe!

With the growing popularity of e-bikes among students, it’s more important than ever to ensure everyone is riding safely and responsibly. Whether you're a student, parent, or teacher, here are some essential tips to keep in mind:

Safety Tips for E-Bike Riders

  • Wear a Helmet: It’s the law in NSW and your best protection in case of a fall or collision.
  • Check Your Ride: Before heading out, inspect brakes, tyres, lights, and battery levels.
  • Be Visible: Wear bright clothing and ensure your e-bike has working front and rear lights, especially in early mornings or late afternoons.
  • Stick to Bike Paths: Use designated bike lanes where possible and avoid riding on footpaths unless permitted.
  • Obey Road Rules: E-bikes must follow the same road rules as other vehicles—stop at red lights, signal when turning, and give way where required.
  • Stay Alert: Avoid distractions like phones or headphones. Always be aware of your surroundings.
  • Ride at Safe Speeds: E-bikes can be fast—slow down near pedestrians, school zones, and intersections.

St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal

Over the past two weeks, Year 7 has been busily preparing for our St Vincent de Paul Christmas Fundraiser, and this year we're doing Santa photos. Thank you to those parents who have already donated lollies for our lolly bags to sell at our Christmas Wonderland. We’d love to see even more contributions in the coming days—every little bit helps!

Santa photos are just $1, so come along and join in the fun. Let’s make this a joyful celebration and show our College spirit by supporting this fantastic cause!
