Year 7 Transition Day 2025: A Warm Heathmont Welcome

On Tuesday 9 December, Heathmont College proudly welcomed our future Year 7 students for our annual Transition Day. This important event gives students the opportunity to come together, explore the school, and connect with one another, supported by our wonderful team of student volunteers who help showcase what life at Heathmont is all about.
Throughout the day, students took part in a range of activities designed to build confidence, spark curiosity, and ease their transition into secondary school. They enjoyed discovering fun and surprising facts about the staff they will meet next year, helping them feel more connected to the community that will guide their learning journey.
This year, we also trialled our brand new House Sorting activity, an exciting addition that proved to be a fantastic success. Students were invited to reflect on their personal ideologies and values by answering a series of multiple-choice questions. This process allowed us not only to balance house numbers but also to place students in houses that align with the beliefs and values each one represents.
The day was buzzing with hands on fun as students experimented with colourful chemical reactions and the ever popular slime stations in Science. Our Arts area was just as lively, with the drum circle and vibrant name plate art activities emerging as crowd favourites.
Across the day, we saw new friendships forming, plenty of laughter, and a sea of smiling faces heading home. It was clear that our future Year 7s and their families felt the warm, welcoming spirit that defines Heathmont College.
We cannot wait to see all our new students again next year. From everyone at Heathmont College, we wish you a safe, joyful, and relaxing festive season!
