Update from our Careers Adviser

Another busy term in Careers.
At the end of Term 3, we had 5 students attend EPP's Try a Trade Program through Campbelltown Council. This program provided students with hands-on trade experience and job readiness skills, with the chance to apply for and be considered for one of four Council apprenticeships.
Brayden Amituanai in Year 10 successfully gained a full-time Plant Mechanic apprenticeship for 2026 as a result of this opportunity. Well done Brayden! We wish you all the best in your future career pathway!
Seven Year 12 students received early conditional offers for admission to UNSW, while another student received an offer in the second round. Additionally, several Year 12 students applied for early entry to Wollongong University and Western Sydney University and were successful in receiving offers.
Many students successfully completed Start Your Future courses. The 8-week taster course prepares the students for EVET in areas like Electrotechnology, Early Childhood, Automotive (Paint and Panel), Barbering, Hair and Beauty, Hospitality, Real Estate etc.
So far, around 12 students have been accepted into the EVET program for 2026, which includes Certificate III courses at TAFE NSW. Most of the students will attend Campbelltown TAFE one day a week for approximately 4 hours. Once the first round of offers is completed, there will be a second round of admissions.
Year 11 students attended the University of Wollongong Open Day at the Liverpool campus on Tuesday 4 November. There were some excellent lectures including Law and Nursing on the day.
Many students have attended Work Experience this term. Places included Youth Solutions in preparation for Community Services, various cafes, real estate agents, Woolworths, My Car Auto and Campbelltown Council to name a few.
I am excited about the upcoming events in 2026, including two career expos. We will have Discovery Day at the University of Wollongong on February 19, as well as mock interviews for Year 10 students during Term 4. Many Year 10 students will participate in work experience in throughout the year, and we will offer more opportunities for school-based apprenticeships. We will also welcome visits from university representatives and provide pre-apprenticeship courses, along with additional Start Your Future courses.
Career lessons will continue for Year 10 students in 2026. Students will have the chance to apply for tax file numbers, Unique Student Identifiers (USIs), and to prepare resumes and cover letters for jobs. They will also learn how to create portfolios.
I hope you enjoy the holidays, and I look forward to seeing everyone next year!
