Baseball
In a huge week for Baseball at SPC, I would like to congratulate the First IX players, coach and MIC as the boys had their first win of the 2025/2026 season with a win over a very strong Five Dock. This is despite trailing by five runs early on, yet the boys worked hard for each other, demonstrated large amounts of resilience and came back to win nine to seven. This is a testament to all the hard work being put in and I am sure it is a sign of fantastic things to come for SPC Baseball.
Basketball
The First V were at home for the last time in 2025 and clearly wanted to make a statement against the very strong Oakhill College side. The boys in black came out with a point to prove and took an early lead which shocked the visitors, Oakhill showed their class on many occasions and took a nine-point lead into half time. There were huge amounts of resilience shown by SPC in the second half; no matter what Oakhill threw at them,SPC took it to them for the entire game but in the end went down 70 points to 66.
Cricket
It was a tough day for the First XI who lost to a very strong St Pius X College First XI in a rain affected fixture. A special mention to Jack Allen who did well with both the bat and ball, scoring 19 runs and picking up three wickets. The Second XI were strong enough to defeat St Gregory’s First XI 140 to 107. Raul Kandiah had a big day scoring 70 runs not out in a fantastic effort. A strong effort from the mighty 13 Black team as they were the only Thunder League team to pick up a victory defeating Carlingford in a rain affected fixture.
Touch Football
There was a little bit of everything for our Senior School Touch Football teams with the Senior A losing nine points to five, Year 7/8A had a three all draw, a five to two win for the Year 7/8B team and then a bye for the Year 7/8C team. Hopefully all four senior school touch teams can win their last game of the year at home on SPC 3 this weekend.
Golf
All good things must come to an end and unfortunately that is exactly what happened to Jack McDonald’s winning streak with his new clubs on Saturday. Taking on Knox Grammar, who are a powerhouse at many sports, golf certainly being one of them, our four golfers went without a win on Saturday. However, with the threat of rain always around and some fantastic efforts from all players, it is safe to say that golf was the real winner on the day….Knox also won but we won’t worry about that!
As we head into the final fixtures for 2025, I would like to wish everybody representing the College best of luck this Saturday! Hopefully we have saved the best till last.
