Senior Boys and Girls  Senior Table Tennis

On the 6th of August, the girls and boys senior table tennis team went to Geelong for the Regionals Table Tennis competition. Both teams put up a fierce battle against all of their opponents. After a long day of cheering each other on, and hitting balls, the girls team was able to claim champion and qualify for the state competition, the boys team put up a tough fight and ultimately got runners up.

In the following week, on the 13th of August, the girls team arrived at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatics Centre to play off against the best schools from each region in Victoria. Unfortunately, we were knocked out in the semi finals and we were met with a lot of experienced and tough opponents throughout the competition. However, our team camaraderie and good sportsmanship with our opposing teams was recognised by School Sports Victoria, and we were awarded the School Spirit Award. The School Spirit Award is awarded to a school that, despite not claiming overall champion, demonstrated respect on and off the courts towards their peers, and showcased a true sporting spirit.

Needless to say, we were happy to be able to walk back not empty handed, and thoroughly enjoyed being able to have a hit with experienced and skilled athletes from across the state, as well as make some new friends.

On the 4th of August, the boys and girls intermediate table tennis team arrived at Geelong Table Tennis Association for the Regionals Table Tennis competition. After a fierce competition, the boys ultimately came in first place, successfully qualifying to compete in the state finals. The girls also put up a tough fight and ultimately won the runners-up.

On the 28th of November, the intermediate boys table tennis team arrived at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatics Centre to play against the best schools from 8 regions in Victoria. The playing styles ranged from defensive, pimples and antispin. Our team unfortunately did not qualify for the semi-finals because of our low number of rubbers and overall points. SCHS finished 5th out of 8 teams in the state finals and our team were met with lots of experienced and tough opponents throughout the entire day.

Regardless of the result, our team was very successful in reaching the state competition and very much enjoyed having the privilege to play with some of the best teams and players in the state.
