Principal's Report

As we come to the end of 2025, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has been an extraordinary year for our school. Every year brings its own opportunities and challenges, but this year has truly been remarkable. Across academics, wellbeing, community engagement, and school culture, Suzanne Cory High School has continued to grow, innovate, and excel, and it has been a privilege to witness our students and staff rise to every occasion.
One of the proudest moments of the year was Suzanne Cory being officially named the number one school in Victoria. This recognition reflects not only the academic excellence of our students, but also the commitment, expertise, and passion of our teachers and support staff. Adding to this celebration, our very own Chufeng Liu was recognised as Victoria’s Most Outstanding Early Career Teacher, a richly deserved honour that highlights both his talent and his extraordinary impact on student learning.
Our academic achievements have once again been exceptional, with as acknowledge in the news this week our NAPLAN results are among the strongest in the state. We know this high level of achievement continues throughout Years 9-12 with students consistently striving for excellence, not perfection.
Internally, 2025 has also been a year of positive change and strategic improvement. We successfully implemented a new timetable, designed to better support deep learning, student choice, and wellbeing. The introduction of study periods across all year levels has strengthened student agency and time-management skills, while assessment bands have improved clarity and consistency in how we support and extend learners.
Our commitment to community has continued to grow through a range of new community projects that have enriched student learning and strengthened our connections beyond the school gates. And an historic milestone for Suzanne Cory: this year we celebrated the graduation of our first IB Diploma cohort, a significant achievement for these pioneering students and for the staff who have guided them.
Looking ahead, we are excited to celebrate the success of our senior students as results are released. We eagerly await VCE results on 11 December and IB results on 17 December, and we look forward to acknowledging the achievements of the Class of 2025.
As we enter the summer break, I want to extend my warmest thanks to our students, staff, parents, and community for their support, resilience, and enthusiasm throughout the year. I encourage everyone to take time to rest, disconnect, and recharge, so that we can all return refreshed, energised, and ready to make 2026 an even better year.
