Year 11 Business Management

YEAR 11 BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
We would like to acknowledge our Year 11 Business Management classes for their outstanding commitment to learning and community service. One of the most meaningful experiences this year was taking small groups of students to the Geelong Foodshare Centre as part of our study of social enterprises and not-for-profit organisations. Through these visits, students explored how organisations like Geelong Foodshare operate to meet community needs while prioritising social impact over profit.
Geelong Foodshare plays a vital role in supporting individuals and families experiencing food insecurity across our local community, relying heavily on donations and volunteers to continue its important work. Extending classroom learning into a real-world setting was incredibly rewarding, and it was inspiring to see students engage so thoughtfully with the organisation’s values and purpose. Over several visits, groups of ten students volunteered their time at the centre, and we were immensely proud to share this experience with them as they gave back to the community while deepening their understanding of how business principles can be applied for social good.
During Term 4, students worked in small teams to design and operate their own small business ventures as part of the annual Business Management Market Day, held on Thursday 30 October at lunchtime in the PAC. The students made the generous decision to pool all profits from their student-led businesses, totalling $475, and donate these funds to Geelong Foodshare to support local individuals and families, particularly young families during the Christmas period. In addition, the Year 11 Formal Committee contributed $325 from their profits, bringing the total donation to $800.
On Thursday 11 December 2025, Elly Wilde (11M), Tahlia Stevens (11R) and Finn May (11M), accompanied by Ms Pugh and Mr Caccamo, visited Geelong Foodshare to present a donation cheque of $800 on behalf of Belmont High School. We are extremely proud of our Year 11 Business Management students and their commitment to making a positive impact in our community.
