Making shapes, splashes and buddies

Maths

In maths we have been making shapes and putting them together to form tessellations. We coloured them in to create animals and patterns. Some people made stingrays, cats bunnies and also beautiful wavy lines. How we made it is we first created a funny shape then traced it down and then put them together to make a puzzle.

Readers Theatre

This week in reading we are working on projecting our voice to help our reading, by putting on a play in front of an audience. We were put into groups and given a fun script to practice. We made props like puppets to match our characters. Then we performed in front of the class, using our expression to make the story come to life. It was really fun to watch other peoples performances, some were funny and intriguing, others led to mystery. It might have been the best project yet!

Swimming!

SPLASH! We jump into the pool making small waves tumble across the surface. This is what happens at school swimming.

First we had to get there to swim at North Melbourne Pool. The journey was quick and fun as we made our way through the community.

Then once we were at the pool we take off our clothes to reveal bathers!

“JEFF! MAKAYLA! STEVEN! GET IN YOUR GROUP!” (fake names) Yell the teachers.

Next, we get in the pool ready to swim, freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly. After 30 minutes, we hopped out of the pool and got changed.

Finally we headed back to school, trudging the WHOLE way.

Buddies

This term we had buddies!  Once at our campus and the 2nd time at the Molesworth campus. Our buddies were from 2A so 4B with 2B etc. We hope that next year we will also have good buddies. Next year our buddies will be in grade 3 and we will be in year 5 so we will have grade 3 buddies. We showed our buddies a persuasive piece and they showed us one of theirs which was cool.
