Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA)

Earlier this term, two of our Interact Club leaders, Lily Hosking and Kirralea Goodall, represented the College at the Rotary Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA), which was hosted at Lyndale Secondary College. On the day, students represented India, focusing their debate on resolving the South China Sea issue. Other topics for debate were guaranteeing food security, promoting democracy, and protecting the environment. Outstanding work by two of our senior leaders!

Bunnings BBQ for Y-PARC Frankston

To acknowledge the club’s fundraising efforts, Alysha and Matt from Y-Parc visited the Interact team on Tuesday September 10th, to express their gratitude for the money donated from the recent Bunnings BBQ. They shared that the funds raised will be used to purchase weighted blankets and other resources for the centre. We look forward to the possibility of continuing our collaboration to support Y-Parc’s remarkable work in enhancing the mental wellbeing of young people in the years to come.

Cook Off for Afghanistan

Tuesday 27th August saw the Interact Club reboot one of our most successful fundraising events from the last two years with the Cook Off for Afghanistan.  The day before, Interact members supported our wonderful laboratory technician Hamida Lutfi in cooking a range of traditional Afghan dishes, including curried chicken and naan bread.  These were then sold to our staff and Senior School students on the Tuesday, raising nearly $2000 for the Imam Bakhari Orphanage.  Well done to everyone for all of their hard work!

Interact Club Fun Run

Last weekend, the Interact Club of McClelland College participated in their final fundraising event for the year at Core 24 Gym in Frankston.  Working in collaboration with the Interact Club from Frankston High, our students were required to keep a treadmill going from 10:00am in the morning until 3:00pm in the afternoon.  Students took it in turns to run in shifts of either 15 or 30 minutes, before seeking donations from family and friends for their efforts.  McClelland ran away with a bagful of prizes from the day, including highest individual fundraiser Tara Smith, best costumes, plus winning the trivia competition on the day.  By the culmination of the event, nearly $10,000 was raised for Community Support Frankston, a charity which supports those in need.  A tremendous achievement by everyone involved!

Interact Club 2025

The Club now turns its attention to recruiting for 2025.  One of the primary goals will be to select our leadership team for the coming year.  With roles including President,  Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary, there are plenty of opportunities for students to extend themselves over the course of the year.  Any current Year 10 or Year 11 students that are interested in being involved are encouraged to speak to Mr Hemsley.  They are also welcome to attend a meeting in SC3 on Mondays at lunchtime.
