Term Three
Chloe - As it is the last week of Term 3, I am very sad but very grateful as we have been given so many exciting opportunities to make our last year at primary schools special. I am really looking forward to Term 4 but very sad that the end of year is nearing. High school for me is going to be a big change as I have no other friends moving to the same high school as me. I hope that next term is going to be extra special because of our upcoming graduation. Time has definitely flown by!
Vivaan - Alas, another action-packed term of 2024 has come to an end and I am sure these 9 weeks have been an incredible term for everyone in the school. Term 3 has been great in particular for the grade sixes with a number of special activities including the DSC Cooking for all grade sixes, the always exciting Athletics Day and many more galvanising events for everyone to enjoy.
Throughout the past term DPS has gone through lots of obstacles and have made multiple achievements. One of the many events during the term was when the grade sixes got the opportunity to visit the cooking room at Doncaster Secondary College and have a go at cooking delectable soupy lasagna and baking fluffy muffins. For many students it was their first time actually cooking a proper meal and we all enjoyed the experience very much! Everyone also learned a new skill that will be useful in their coming years of life. In week 6 of term 3 DPS had their 2024 Book week. Each student from the school dressed up like a character from their favourite book and paraded in front of the whole school. The school captains and I were given the responsibility to lead the book launch and it went great. It was so nice to see that most of the students were dressed up in colourful clothes to participate in this book launch.
Put on your house shirt because it's District Athletics Day!! A selected few from the year levels 3-6 from Doncaster Primary school went to represent our school at the District Athletics Day where they were put up against other schools from around the area in a series of track and field events. Our school came fifth in the rankings performing admirably in the shuttle relays. However, what was most important on the day was that everyone tried their best and had fun. On August the 6th, the grade sixes went to the Manningham Art Museum to learn about different things including light and -200 degrees liquid hydrogen. The presenters there did multiple experiments, making our jaws drop in awe! The most risky and breathtaking stunt they did was to set their hand on fire. The many gloves he was wearing and the liquid hydrogen was preventing him from feeling any heat from the fire.
Now I am looking forward to more achievements and activities in the following term including the graduation ceremony to celebrate all the seniors in the school on their journey to a whole new place, High School. It will be the last time that we will be meeting most of our friends as we will all be going to different high schools next year. We will all make new memories that will hold a special place in our hearts that will last a lifetime. The next term will be the grade sixes last term at Doncaster Primary School and I am having mixed feelings about leaving the school and heading off on the journey to high school. I hope to make the most of my final term at Doncaster primary school and make it the best of the year.
Have a great term break everyone!!
Hayley - This week is the last week before the last term of my primary school years. Do I feel excited? No. But I am extremely excited for the following term. Also our last term. Throughout this term we have accomplished many exciting things such as publishing our new First Nations Book! Where every one of the year 6 students wrote a beautiful piece inspired by the First nations and an artwork. We also had our Book Week parade where each and every person in Doncaster Primary School dress up as their favourite character from a book. The school captains and I were lucky enough to be able to host it. My absolute favourite activity we did was going to Doncaster Secondary to cook and bake! We made scrumptious muffins and lasagna soup. Everyone got to work with a partner taking turns to cook, cut and clean. As we cooked the lasagna soup we got to have an early taste of the warmest and delicious lasagna soup. Next term I know it will be the most exciting and fun term in my 7 years in primary school. I’m most excited for graduation where we get to dress up and have our last memories together unfortunately. It will be the most unforgettable day celebrating with my best friends and peers. I am looking forward to all the memories we will get to experience.
Elijah - To finish off the second last term of primary school I would like to look at all that happened this term. We saw Doncaster Secondary College’s play, We had the house athletics carnival and the year sixes launched their new first nations book.
Firstly, I would like to talk more about Doncaster Secondary College’s play they performed to us. Their play was Midsummer Night's Rest, a Shakespeare story.
Also I’d like to talk about the House Athletics Carnival. The House Athletics Carnival was just like every year we did long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, discuss, 800m sprint, 200m sprint but my favourite event was the 100m sprint, I enjoyed just running in the 100m sprint.
Finally, the year sixes have just launched our new first nations book. We had worked hard writing and drawing our stories just for the book and I think it turned out amazing.
I cannot wait for Term 4 and experience my last year of primary school.
