This week in Numeracy, we explored how everyday things and activities like counting paperclips and using stationery, can be connected to fractions, decimals, and percentages. It was surprising to see how often we do these things without even realizing it!
It was really interesting to see how maths works in real life! We even challenged ourselves by figuring out discounts on different items and calculating what we’d pay in the end. It was fun using the things around us to make sense of math, and now I can see how percentages and discounts work when I'm out shopping!
As we prepare for the Spring and Summer of 2024, we’ve been busy in our school garden! We've cleaned it out and are getting everything prepared to sow some seeds. We’re especially excited because we have a super special project coming up—harvesting the potatoes we planted during our Bunnings incursion. It was so much fun learning how to plant them, and now we can’t wait to see how they grow. We’re looking forward to a great harvest and can’t wait to taste the fresh potatoes we’ve grown ourselves! Stay tuned for more updates from our garden.
Kebun Mini (Miniature Garden)
We are thrilled to hear that Radhika Srinivas has secured a community grant from Yarra Valley Water, aimed at enhancing our school garden and implementing a greywater recycling system. To further support this initiative, the Indonesian parents' community at Clayton North Primary School is excited to introduce our new project: Kebun Mini.
Kebun Mini
In Indonesian, kebun means "garden," and mini translates to "miniature." This miniature Indonesian garden will take place in one of our wooden gazebos in the CNPS garden, where we will create three distinct planting areas featuring Indonesian herbs, flowers, and vegetables. Additionally, we plan to plant banana trees and jasmine across from the gazebo. To enrich the cultural atmosphere, we plan to decorate the gazebo with batik —traditional Indonesian cloth featuring cultural motifs. We warmly welcome any parents who would like to contribute ideas or suggestions to help make our ‘Kebun Mini Indonesia’ a vibrant showcase of Indonesian culture for CNPS students and the broader community.

We’ve been learning about endangered species and are excited to show off our hard work! We’ve been busy creating dioramas of the habitats where these amazing animals live. Our "Go Public" event is on Wednesday at 2:30 pm, and it’s the last week of term, so it’s a perfect way to celebrate everything we’ve learned during Term 3. We would love for you to come visit us and see our creations. We’re looking forward to seeing you there and sharing what we’ve learned!
We’ve been having an amazing time getting ready for the State School Spectacular! Our rehearsals have been intense but super fun. We’ve been learning dance routines, perfecting our singing, and working together as a team. Everyone is really excited and a bit nervous as we count down to the big performance. We hope you’ll be there to see all our hard work pay off!
