Over the past few weeks, our students have been diving into exciting and diverse learning experiences that are shaping their understanding and creativity in remarkable ways.
One of the areas of focus in Maths has been converting measurements and capacity, where students are discovering practical applications of math in everyday life. From converting millilitres to litres and grams to kilograms, they are learning how to manipulate and understand units of measure in a hands-on way. Engaging activities, such as measuring the capacity of various containers and converting these measurements, have sparked curiosity about how these concepts fit into real-world scenarios.
Our students have embraced their imaginations by crafting narratives and fairy tales. They've learned how to create captivating storylines, developing rich characters and magical settings while incorporating the elements of traditional tales. This creative writing journey is not only improving their narrative skills but also helping them express their ideas and emotions in a fun and structured manner.
In reading, we have been working on extending comprehension skills. Students are deepening their understanding by asking insightful questions, exploring text features, and making mental images. These skills are helping them engage more meaningfully with texts, fostering a love for reading while enhancing their ability to think critically about what they read. By creating mental images, students are turning words into vivid pictures, allowing them to better grasp stories and their meanings.
It's been a dynamic term full of learning opportunities that are not only academically enriching but also nurturing students’ creative and critical thinking abilities. We look forward to seeing how these skills continue to develop throughout the rest of the year!
