Grandparents and Special Friends Day at 4yo Kinder

This week the Plenty Kids welcomed Grandparents!

What fun it was to welcome Grandparents and Special friends into the kinder rooms this week. The children enjoyed sharing their fun play space with their special visitors, showing them around inside and out, sharing baked treats with them and even painting with (or on) them!

Grandparents were so appreciative of the opportunity to come in and spend time at kinder with their grandchildren. Some came all the way from Bendigo to be there for this special day!

We are so blessed by this loving community here at Plenty Valley Christian College. A huge thank you to all who participated in this event. We are already looking forward to our next one!

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)

Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about support provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).

Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes: • year of schooling• category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional• level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive.

This information assists schools to: • formally recognize the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools• consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools• develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.

The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.

The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students are ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. To find out more about these matters, please refer to the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy (https://www.education.gov.au/privacy-policy).

Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal (https://www.nccd.edu.au).

If you have any questions about the NCCD, please contact the school.

Crossing Yan Yean Road - Safety Reminder

The National Safety Council is focused on efforts to eliminate distracted walking – specifically walking while using a mobile device. Kids often don't recognize the dangers of distracted walking.

Before your children head out, remind them of these year-round safety tips:

● Never walk while texting or talking on the phone

● If texting, move out of the way of others and stop on the sidewalk

● Never cross the street while using an electronic device

● Do not walk with headphones in your ears

● Be aware of your surroundings

● Always walk on the sidewalk if one is available; if you must walk on the street, face oncoming traffic

● Look left, right, then left again before crossing the street

● Cross only at crosswalks
