3/4 - In Grade 3/4 this week we have been writing procedural texts. Some classes have made their own Scrumptious Snack recipe books and we are currently working on making our own YouTube style instructional video on how to perform a special skill. Students have written their own scripts and ensured they included all of the important steps and actions to help their audience learn the skill. To wrap up literacy for the week, we completed some Book Week activities, where we explored some of the fantastic short listed books from this year. After reading ‘Raised by Moths”, the main campus students created some beautiful artwork inspired by the illustrations. We are looking forward to seeing everyone’s amazing costumes tomorrow at the Book Week Parade!
In Maths everyone has been working so hard to improve their mental multiplication skills and we have seen some great results in our Multiplication challenge each week. We are now using this knowledge to work on our division skills and practise sharing an amount among small groups. We’ve been doing this through games, iPad activities as well as using hands on materials.
Concert is only a week away and Batesford have been getting their craft on – busy making their own costumes! We can’t wait to see the finished products on the night. The main campus pirates have been busy practising their sword fights and treasure stealing too! Everyone is working so hard on their concert routines and we are very proud of the way the children are stepping out of their comfort zone to perform. Bring on concert!
Grade 2 We have been doing lots of concert practice and we are so excited to show our families our best moves!
In Reading we have been working on forming opinions about characters, setting and events in books. Feel free to ask us during our home reading who our favourite character was!
In Writing we have been doing some free writes and publishing our information reports.
In Maths, we have been continuing to develop our problem-solving strategies as well as different strategies to multiplication problems such as arrays and repeated addition.
