VCE PE

Last Friday our VCE PE students travelled to Biolab (Belmont) for a sports science experience.

The first session was called Metabolic Madness. Students were able to record their heart rate, blood pressure, core body temperature and lung volume. Charlie Millar bravely participated in the VO2 max test. His heart rate, RPE, O2/CO2 levels and body temperature were recorded. Charlie scored a relative VO2 max of 49 ml/kg/min.

In the second session, Eye in the Sky, our students participated in a game of netball. Using special GPS equipment, student speed and distances were recorded. With support from the Biolab staff, students were able to compare the workloads of different athletes based on their positions on the netball court.

Many thanks to the staff at Biolab for working with our students last week.
