Bakers Shop

Bakers shop students have been getting very creative in the Home Eco kitchen, practicing using different mediums to decorate ahead of their birthday cake design CAT.

Students made and used buttercream icing with food dye, piping bags with various attachments, sprinkles, marshmallows, chocolate filagree piping and sugar crystals to decorate their 6 vanilla cupcakes.

Students also learnt to work with Fondant, another icing and decorative option to decorate Marie biscuits with various cutter, colours.

Its was great to see the individuality in the final products, all doing a wonderful job and cannot wait to see their cake designs!

3D Sculpture

Using the theme of superheroes and villains, Year 10 3D Sculpture students created group displays collectively entitled, “SuperCity”. It is currently being exhibited in the S Wing above the sinks.

Students examined a variety of styles, processes and practices by notable famous artists whose work is often appropriated by other artists. They then undertook to research Marvel and DC Comic styles, in order to create their own sculptural characters using a variety of materials including armature (wiring), recycled and natural materials, as well as plasticine.

In terms of the Elements & Principles of Design, they focussed upon Emphasis, Movement & Colour. Students also incorporated digital designs to create backdrops, as well as created a narrative for each of their group displays based upon the Superhero theme.
