A Spotlight on Learning
A Spotlight on Learning in the JLC on Springvale Campus
JLC students and teachers bid a sad goodbye to Mrs Sweetman on Tuesday as she left to begin her own family. We look forward to hearing more news very soon. However, we are delighted to welcome Mrs Nicole Coates back to the Springvale Campus where she will be working with the JLC from Wednesday to Friday with 1/2F. She is excited to be working closely with our wonderful students.
In Reading, JLC have been practising how to deliver a retell after they have finished their reading text by explaining what the book was mainly about and recalling the events from the beginning, middle and end of the story.
The production which we saw of Cinderella at the Springvale Town Hall on Thursday has led us to explore how this fairytale has been embraced in various cultures that have their own version of the girl who lost her shoe.
In preparation for our focus on zoo animals we have been learning how to identify the parts of an Information Report in Writing. Of course we started with the extraordinary African elephant as our first animal in the spotlight.

The JLC are extremely excited to be attending the Melbourne Zoo next Wednesday and have been learning about animals and the features in their habitats that support their survival. I am looking forward to hearing which animal was their favourite!
