Year Level Leaders Report

Year 7 and 8 Leader Report

We have had a productive start to Term Two in the Junior School. It has been great to see our youngest students working on their organisation skills and making sure they are on time and equipped for each lesson. Most subject areas have now completed their first formal assessment tasks and are learning how to prioritise their workloads to ensure they are meeting deadlines.

Reinforcing our key values of Respect and Resilience, we recently had a visit from Brainstorm Productions who presented a performance on “Bullying” for our Year 7 students. Students were very engaged in both the performance and Q&A session that followed, demonstrating a high level of empathy.

The first HRRRT Bronze certificates were awarded to both our Year 7s and 8s at their recent Year Level Assemblies. Students achieve this award when they receive 10 or more HRRRT points from their teachers for going above and beyond in exemplifying the school’s values of High Expectations, Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Teamwork. Some students are already well on their way to achieving their Silver certificate for 25 HRRRT points!

Our Year 7s have also spent some more time with their Year 10 Peer Support leaders, making positive connections with the greater school community. Thank you to our proactive group of Year 10 leaders, the Year 7s enjoy the time they spend with you and look up to you as role models.

Looking forward to the rest of the term and seeing what the junior students achieve.

Year 9 and 10 Leader Report

Term 2 has commenced with our students and teachers full of energy and enthusiasm. In the Middle School, we have observed our students have settled back into routine, wearing their correct winter uniforms, and are applying themselves in class relative to their personal best.

Congratulations to all students who successfully qualified for the Monash Division Cross Country event on Thursday, May 23rd after achieving a top 15 place in their respective age group. A special shoutout to Sophie Volpert (Year 9), Patrick Small, Zohar Levy and Campbell Brown (Year 10) for winning their respective races. We would also like to acknowledge the success of the Intermediate Boys Netball Team on Monday, 29th April, dominating their competition and progressing through to the Eastern Metropolitan Region competition on Monday, July 29th.

Areas to be mindful of moving forward in Term 2 are:

Students should be conscientiousness in their completion of classwork, homework and revision, in order to set themselves up for success in their Semester 1 exams, from June 7th to June 14th.

It is a school and departmental expectation that students meet the 90% attendance requirements, and those who exceed that will be recognised. Where students are absent, it is expected that parents/carers enter an explanation for the absence on Compass.

Blazers are required to be worn to and from school to demonstrate pride.

All the best for the rest of Term 2!

Year 11 and 12 Leader Report

VCE Careers Expo On Friday 3rd of May Year 11 and 12 students ventured into the city to attend the VCE/VM 2024 Careers Expo, held at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. Over 40 Secondary Schools from across Victoria attended the event. Students were given the opportunity to wander around the venue and speak with an array of Universities, TAFEs and other pathway providers to see what opportunities are available to them after they graduate. Throughout the day, our students engaged in a plethora of enriching seminars related to their senior studies including English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Business Management, Psychology, Health and Human Development seminars as well as conferences relating to employment opportunities and study advice. Overall, it was a great day had by all and thank you to all staff who were involved in supervising our senior students.
