2024 Education Week in the Primary Years: Open Morning - Tuesday 14th May

Cyber Safety App - Beacon

Telethon Kids Institute and Dolly's Dream, in conjunction with the Australian Government eSafety Commissioner have developed Beacon - a cyber safety educational app "designed to keep parents and carers up-to-date with trusted, tailored information, to help keep their kids safe online."

Our children are attempting to navigate a digital world that is changing quickly, and children and carers may encounter problems ranging from techno-tantrums and excessive screen time to social media conflict and cyberbullying. This free app will help you and your family prevent issues arising, keep your children safe online and give advice to parents if issues so arise.

Positive Learning Routines

Teachers and students are continuing to implement positive learning routines throughout the day to have predictable and consistent classroom routines in place. The purpose of positive learning routines is to maximise learning time in our classrooms and provide the conditions for our students to learn and thrive. Please continue to support your child at home with discussions about routines both at home and school to assist your child to recognise the importance of these routines in building their confidence, thinking and empowerment.

We have noticed that many students are using the bathrooms throughout class times during the day, impacting their learning and of others as they take a partner with them up to Year 4. Whilst we recognise that many students require to use the bathroom across the day, we encourage students to make use of the bathroom facilities before school and during break times. Teachers will remind students of this throughout the day and we ask that you please have discussions with your child at home to support this. Teachers will use their discretion when students are requesting to use the bathroom during class times.

Prep School Nurse Check

The Primary School Nursing Program is a free service offered by the Department of Education to all Prep students and their families during their child’s first year of school. The program aims to assist in the early identification of children with potential health, wellbeing or development concerns which may impact their education and offers screening (such as hearing, vision, speech, dental and motor skills) as well as advice, information and referrals to other health and support services. Parents and carers can support their child’s participation in the program by completing an online School Entrant Health Questionnaire.

Participation in the program is not mandatory and parent and carer consent is required for the Primary School Nurse to see your child. If you do not wish to participate, you are encouraged to register and select ‘No I do not consent’ in the online questionnaire so that your response is recorded. Click below to complete the online School Entrant Health Questionnaire: https://students.educationapps.vic.gov.au/sehq/s

We encourage you to take the opportunity for this important health check to support your child's development and learning at school.

Uniform Reminders

As the days get colder, we remind families of our uniform policy. We ask that students wear black pants (no leggings), and only beanies with the College logo. Thank you to those parents who have contributed to our Uniform Review last term; we are in the process of hearing from our students, before collaborating with School Council with any changes or additions.
