Head of Primary Years' Report

Dear Primary Years Families,

Term 2 started with excitement as the new Year 5 playground was opened and ready for business. Whilst landscaping is still in the process, our students have loved having a playground to themselves. Over the holidays our team have also been busy improving synthetic turf areas around the portables and painting classrooms. A big thanks to our maintenance team for the work they do.

ANZAC Assemblies

It was great to see so many of you on Wednesday at our ANZAC Day Assemblies. These assemblies form an important part of our remembrance for those who sacrificed their lives and livelihoods for our country.

It's also an opportunity for students to develop their empathy and their values such as respect. Our students did our community proud in the way they listened, sung and contributed wreaths adorned with their hand-prints. I particularly want to acknowledge our Primary Years Captains Nisali, Anushka, Ollie and Lily, and Ms Lambie, the Voices of Hazel Glen and the Primary Years choir.

You can see our class wreaths in the Primary Years Admin foyer for the next couple of weeks.

Curriculum Day - 26th April

Today, all staff across the College engaged in important professional learning on the Victorian Department of Education's new Disability Inclusion reform. The Disability Inclusion reforms will be rolled out over five years to all Victorian Schools.

Inclusion plays a pivotal role in creating a learning environment that celebrates and caters for all; where every student, regardless of ability, feels valued and supported.

By embracing inclusive practices, schools can empower students to reach their full potential and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

We worked collaboratively to explore what inclusion looks like in our classrooms and how to strengthen inclusive classroom practices. This professional learning opportunity underscores our commitment to ensuring that all students receive the support and resources they need to thrive academically and socially at our College.

Ready, Prep, Go!

This term we launch our Ready, Prep, Go! program for prospective Prep students and families for 2025. This is an opportunity for your child to get their first taste of Primary School, and an opportunity for caregivers to spend time at our College prior to formally enrolling in school. We will also be conducting more tours this term, and officially welcome enrolment forms to be submitted to our Primary Years Reception throughout this term.

You can pick up an enrolment pack at the Primary Years Reception, at Hazel Glen Kinder, or jump onto our website to download forms, handbooks and our virtual information video. The first 50 enrolments will receive a HGC hat for free!
