From the Principal

We would like to acknowledge the original custodians of this land and waterways

and pay our respects to the Elders past and present and emerging,

for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and hopes of

Indigenous Australia.

In Faith we will show..... Respect, Empathy, Inclusion, Excellence!

Dear Families

Vinney's  Winter Appeal

As the colder weather has come upon us it is an opportune time to support those around us who may be struggling and are in need. We ask for your support by donating good blankets or warm jackets that we can pass on to St Vincent de Paul.  Two years ago the amount of items donated was outstanding as people delved into their cupboards and brought the items to school.  The School Captains will oversee this event by promoting and talking about the importance of how our school can embrace one of the Catholic Social Teaching in Caring for the Poor.  Items can be brought to school in a few weeks time so please keep an eye out in our next newsletter and start looking through your wardrobes. Please bear in mind that although we are asking for donations, they do need to be good quality, not stained or ripped.  Thank you again for your continued support.

ANZAC Day Commemoration Service

On Sunday, 21 April, I had the privilege  to be part of the  Glen Eira Council, Anzac Day Service at the Caulfield Park Cenotaph. Our School Captains, Poppy and Julian, represented our school and proudly placed a wreath at the Cenotaph on our behalf.

The opportunity to be part of this ceremony was a reminder of how fortunate we are to live in a country where we can openly give thanks to those who fought to protect their people.  Lest We Forget!

Walk to School Day 10th May 2024

Our school has registered for the National Walk Safely to School Day on Friday 10 May 2024.  National Walk Safely to School Day is a community initiative that aims to raise awareness of the health, road safety, transport and environmental benefits that regular walking (especially to and from school) can provide for the long term well-being of our children.

It aims to improve the environment and our daily exercise routines. Walking to school is the perfect way to start the day by getting some exercise and fresh air, ready to start school with a clear mind.  Perhaps, park the car further back from the school and have a walk with other children and their families.  The Sports Captains will be handing out stickers to all students as they arrive to school.

Fees & Levies 2024

The second instalment for school fees is due to be paid by Friday, 10th May 2024. Fee statements have been distributed to families. Parents who hold a health care card may be eligible for concessional fees. Please contact the office for further information.

Mother’s Day

I have been watching all the preparation and work that has been taking place by the PFA, in particular Linda and Rhonda, for the Mothers' Day Breakfast and Stall.  I can't wait to see the faces of the children as they come along and select a gift or two for their mother or special friend.  Mums please come along and enjoy the delicious breakfast that will be put on for you by our devoted dads. There will be some special surprise treats and of course our Mothers' Day Raffle.

I wish all the mothers or special people in our lives a happy day on Sunday 12 May where you all get the chance to be a little bit spoilt.  I hope that there will be time for you all to be shown the appreciation of what motherhood really entails.  For the mothers who are no longer with us may their memories always remain special in our hearts.

Happy Mother's Day!

Sincerely yours

Margaret Carlei

Principal

A Mother's Day Blessing

Blessed is the Mother

Who lets the Lord be her guiding hand,

Whose faith brings her family courage

Whose wisdom comes from God,

and whose children still stand and honour her
