Hands On Learning
Last week, in the Hands on Learning program, students baked lemon and poppyseed cupcakes for staff morning tea and made hamburgers for their lunch.
We used lemons that were given to us from a backyard tree and herbs and lettuce from the garden.
We made 2 flavours of hamburger patties from scratch using chicken mince and lamb mince. Instead of tomato sauce, everyone opted to try some homemade tomato relish on their burger bun.
In the afternoon, we spent some time digging up a big garden bed and mixing in sheep manure. We will plant an assortment of cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli in this garden.
This week in Hands on Learning we made Anzac biscuits and Anzac slice for the staff room teachers treat and veggie fried rice for lunch. We also spent some time in the garden watering, planting spring onion tips and getting organised for the Art show stall coming up on Monday.
The Hands on Learning crew are improving their knife skills every week and learning lots of new techniques in the kitchen, important skills that they can use everyday at home.
