Loud Shirt Day
On Tuesday 29 of October, the school was alive with vibrant colours as students and teachers wore their brightest, most “loud” shirts in support of Deaf Children Australia. Loud Shirt Day offered a fun and meaningful way for our school community to show solidarity with children who are deaf or hearing impaired, by raising awareness and funds for a wonderful cause.
The day was highlighted by a special Q&A session in the morning for students in Years 2- 6. They had the privilege of hearing from Mrs. Bower and her son Heath, who is hearing impaired, as well as Libby Kirchner, who has a son who is also deaf.
All 3 guests spoke about their experiences, sharing insights into how deafness affects their families' lives and how this charity has helped them. The students were deeply engaged, asking thoughtful questions and gaining valuable understanding of the unique challenges and achievements of those living with hearing impairments.
From eye-catching outfits to meaningful conversations, Loud Shirt Day was a great initiative the Junior School Council Representatives ran.
It not only helped students become more empathetic but also the importance of inclusion and understanding in our school community.
Thank you for everyone who donated and supported this fantastic cause.
Poppies
Until Monday 11 November, Junior School Council will be selling poppies as part of the annual Poppy Appeal. This important initiative has a long tradition of supporting Australian veterans and their families. Your donations will help the RSL continue delivering life-changing support to those who have served our country.
They will be available to purchase at school for the next 2 weeks, with prices ranging from $2 to $50.
