Reading 

Our students will be forming Literature Circle groups for book discussions. They will agree on the allocated reading each week, which is the topic of conversation for each week's group meeting. Different aspects and themes will be covered in weekly written responses demonstrating their understanding. 

There will also be a focus on reading strategies for a range of informative and persuasive texts. These may be viewed or read. 

Writing

The main focus will be on writing persuasive texts and information texts. The emphasis will be on the structure of the text type, the organisation of content and language features appropriate to the text.

Speaking & Listening

Students have weekly opportunities to effectively use speaking and listening strategies in class, group and partner discussions. There will be spoken presentations in our Science Inquiry Unit.
